Before you go online, you need to know exactly what job you are searching for. To conduct an effective online job search, you need a list of keywords - the actual terms you will enter into the search boxes on the Internet. By using keywords to job search, you can narrow your search results to access targeted job listings that match your criteria.
Here are two ways to build your list of key words:
- Create your resume. Take time to think through what you've accomplished and what skills are transferable. Plus, you will need your resume in case you find your dream job online.
- Think like reporter. Ask yourself What, Who, and Where questions to help define your job search. What do you want to do (skills/occupations)? Who do you want to work for (industries/employers)? Where do you want to live and work (location)?
