EdgeRunner 5K and Community Resource Fair
Date:
May 8, 2010
Location: Jefferson High School
Comments: The Edgerunner 5K was started last year with a mission to raise awareness of the need for foster homes, especially in Edgewater and surrounding communities. By doing this, children who must enter foster care are able to remain in their community and stay connected to their schools, culture and families.

The Community Resource Fair is an event that has been offered to the residents of Jefferson County for the last five years. The fair will feature over 90 community based vendors and is expected to be visited by at least 800 people. The vendors will provide information and resources for mental health, housing, employment, education, aging and disabilities. There will be free food and activities for all ages.

Location: Colorado Mills 14500 W. Colfax Avenue (I-70 & Colfax) Lakewood, CO Entrance #1, Space #134

The Jefferson County Professional Connections Job Club provides a weekly opportunity to network and learn valuable information on topics like interviewing, salary negotiation and personal branding. The job club is a partnership between Jefferson County Workforce Center and St. Anthony Hospitals Health Passport Program. The group is facilitated by Professional Career Consultant, Kate Culligan.

Meetings are free and participants are encouraged to provide leads and support to their fellow job seekers. Most who attend are mid-career professionals who have been laid-off or downsized by local companies. The group provides an opportunity to fight isolation, seek support and information on how to transfer their current skills to new industries or positions. Many group members have successfully transitioned to new careers.
