Skills Assessment Services

Jefferson County Workforce Center offers a continuum of training and assessment programs to provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to make a successful transition into the workforce.

These state of the art assessment programs include job skills testing and tutorials, interest and aptitude assessments, online computer testing and tutorials, keyboarding, and more!

The following assessments are currently offered at Jefferson County Workforce Center:

Career Assessments

*Choices Career Planner is an advanced online career assessment system that helps individuals  effortlessly determine career paths and build powerful plans as they compare, connect and choose from a vast network of work and training options. Once establishing their online career portfolio, they can access it from any internet connection.

*CareerScope measures both aptitude and career interest to help adults begin the career or educational planning process.

*Self Directed Search is a paper assessment that matches an individual’s interests with career options.

Academic Level

*TABE assessment is an academic assessment that measures a person’s grade level in reading, mathematics and language

Workplace Skill Readiness

*WorkKeys assessments give students, employers and job seekers reliable and relevant information about their workplace skill levels.

*Success Profiler helps individuals to assess and build their strengths in self-esteem, assertion, decision-making, leadership, interpersonal skills, adapting to change, stress & time management, physical wellness, and violence prevention.

*Mavis Beacon is a software program that provides timed typing tests and allows the test taker to print out certificates of accomplishment.

*Qwiz Online provides more than 540 tests and assessments covering call centers, healthcare, legal, finance, information technology, office software simulations, primary business skills, psychometrics and administrative skills.

Tutorials

*KeyTrain provides an online, interactive learning system for common skills required by all jobs based on ACT’s WorkKeys employment system.

*Tutorline provides online scheduled tutoring in mathematics (basic skill to calculus), writing, chemistry, physics, biology, introduction to human anatomy and physiology, accounting, economics, introductory to finance, Spanish and statistics. Online math tutors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week during the school year.

*Learning Line resource helps beginning or first-time computer users learn to use the computer for instruction. The site uses animation, text with audio, specialized word processing software with audio capabilities, and a unique Internet toolbar to help learners acquire skills, understand their importance, and improve reading and language skills.

*GED Interactive provides computer based preparation for the GED from an 8th grade to 9th grade reading level.

*Contemporary GED provides text book preparation for the GED. It interfaces with the GED Interactive.

*Mavis Beacon is a keyboarding tool which provides lessons on key proficiency, report format and business writing formats.

*Qwiz Online provides lessons and practice for each of the tests that are offered.
