Disability Program Navigator Services Navigators are available to assist you with: - Finding solutions to problems that make it difficult to find or keep a job - Understanding your employment rights under the law - Thinking through and decide whether you should tell an employer about your disability - Understanding when in the hiring process you should tell an employer about your disability - Understanding how to ask an employer for what you need in order to be successful in your job - Understanding what to do, if your employer does not provide a solution that meets your needs - Understanding how to get free money to buy the technology you need to be productive on the job or at school - Getting information on how to get free money to live on while you’re attending school or working or both - Getting information on how to get free money for training and certifications - Getting information on community resources to help you solve problems like finding a place to live, paying bills, paying for medications, getting health insurance, and much more Eligibility for DPN Services To qualify for Navigator services, you must have or think you have a disability, be willing to work, and be able to work once employment barriers are addressed.Contact Information To receive Navigator Services, call 303-271-4700 or visit the Workforce Center located at 3500 Illinois Street, Golden, Colorado 80401. Ask to schedule an appointment with the Disability Program Navigator.Fees There are no fees for Disability Navigator services.Social Security Disability If you have been out of work for one or more years because of a disability and have medical documentation to substantiate your disability, you may be qualified to receive Social Security Disability or Supplemental Security Income. To find out more about social security programs, eligibility requirements, and work incentive programs or to apply for social security, go to the Social Security website at www.ssa.gov. The Social Security office in Jefferson County, Colorado is located at 13151 Alameda Parkway in Lakewood, Colorado 80228. Hours are Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm. You may also telephone at 800-325-0778, or communicate via TTY at 800-325-0778.Benefits Planning Benefits Planners can help you to better understand how working can affect your Social Security benefits. A Benefit Planner can help you better understand how many hours you can work and how much income you can earn before there is an impact to the amount of social security income you receive. Benefit Planners can also provide education on work incentive programs available from the Social Security Administration that can help you work more and earn more without affecting your benefits. Assistive Technology Jefferson County Workforce Center provides over 22 assistive technology devices and programs to accommodate people with disabilities. In addition, with 24-hours notice we can provide interpreters for the deaf or language translators.
