Jefferson County Workforce Center?
This is a real place in Golden, Colorado where job seekers from Jefferson, Clear Creek, and Gilpin counties can come to work on their job search. Once you have registered, you will receive a scan card that allows you access to the center and its resources Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Simply scan your card upon arrival and then sit down at one of our many computer stations to start searching for jobs, revising that resume, or composing a cover letter.
- Have a question? Not sure which format to use for your resume? Simply approach the Workforce Specialist at the front desk and get your questions answered.
- Have you heard about a good job search book or interviewing technique guide? Check out our library of resources while you are at the center.

Connecting Colorado
A key to becoming part of the workforce system is registering with Connecting Colorado. This statewide database connects employers and job seekers in one easy to use database. The Jefferson County Workforce Center requires that all its customers register with this system. Once registered, job seekers can access hundreds of jobs and become part of a database of qualified job candidates. Being part of this database helps job seeker find jobs and employers find employees. Click here to get registered
Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
WIA is a federally funded program established to assist individuals to become marketable in order to secure employment. This is an employment program that aims to assist in wage improvement. WIA offers short-term Comprehensive Job Search and Career Guidance that may lead to training opportunities.
- Who is eligible? WIA participants must be legal US residents and have authorization to work in the US.
- Veterans receive employment preference under WIA.
- Other benefits of this program include a WIA employment counselor who works one on one with WIA participants to develop a plan for obtaining employment.
Nuts and Bolts Workshops
Each month, the Jefferson County Workforce Center offers a wide variety of free job search workshops. Each course is jam packed with great advice and take away materials, and lasts about two hours.

Veterans’ Services
Veterans receive prioity of service. This sounds great but what does it really mean? It means that veterans who are registered with the workforce system receive notification of job openings 24 hours in advance of non-veterans. Beyond that, the Jefferson County Workforce Center has two specialists in the area of veterans and employment. These specialists work hard with both veterans and businesses to find placements for veterans. If you are a veteran, click here to learn more about our veterans' services.
YouthWorks Program
Ask anyone, and they would agree that kids in the 14-21 age range have different needs than people 21 and older. This is especially true when it comes to job search and employment. The Jefferson County Workforce Center understands this and has a special area devoted to its YouthWorks program. Their motto, “Everyone starts somewhere”, exemplifies the supportive environment and staff of the youth center.
- Youth who register with the system receive personalized assistance and opportunities for training and education.
- Throughout the year, special events such as the Youth Job Fair and Youth Job Safari Summer Camp are offered to helps kids 14-21 get that all important first job or experience that will launch them into a lifetime of success.
