January 2008 - New in 2008In keeping with our mission to bring businesses pertinent information in a timely fashion, this month’s Hire Results for Business from the Jefferson County Workforce Centeris focusing on several legal matters. Two of our articles focus on information regarding immigration and employment authorization. The other article features some tips on using social networking sites to screen prospective employees. While these articles are not offering formal legal advice, they do give business owners an overview of some key legal issues as business opens for 2008. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) issued a new I-9 Employment Eligibility Form. The new form took effect immediately, but there was a 30 day grace period for employers. read more...
